New Connections Capstone Issue Brief: Building a Legacy of Equity through Community and Scholarship

New Connections scholars participate in a Second Line parade in New Orleans at the Capstone Symposium.

For the last 12 years, New Connections has provided grant funding, professional development, and networking and mentoring opportunities. As our network grew to encompass more than 1,000 diverse scholars, we built a community of passionate and mutually supportive researchers. Looking toward the future of inclusive research funding, we have published an Issue Brief, New Connections: Building a Legacy of Equity through Community and Scholarship, that encapsulates the values, principles, and approaches of New Connections and its unique programming. The personal narratives of former grantees and program officers, cited in the Brief, affirm the imperative to create spaces for underrepresented researchers.
