New Connections Research and Coaching Clinic
New Connections Research and Coaching Clinic
The New Connections Initiative is excited to announce its first Research and Coaching Clinic to be held during the 2007 American Public Health Association conference in Washington, DC. Developed in partnership with the Emerging Scholars Interdisciplinary Network (ESIN) at the University of Michigan, this clinic is designed to increase the visibility and enhance the skill sets of New Connections grantees and potential applicants. Applicants to New Connections are early to mid career researchers from underrepresented communities. Underrepresented communities in the research field include those who are African American, Native American, Hispanic/Latino; from low-income backgrounds; first in their family to attend college; or others who have historically been underrepresented in the research community. New Connections will reimburse participants up to $1,000 to cover travel, lodging, and registration costs associated with attendance. Costs must be incurred between October 1, 2007-November 4, 2007.
Meeting Highlights and Activities
The New Connections Research and Coaching Clinic will begin at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 with lunch and end at 12 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2007 at the American Public Health Association annual meeting. Workshop topics will include communications, publications, and advanced methodological training. The Clinic will serve as a forum for young researchers to network and share best practices.
